Walton Definitely Park Keepers Lodge at Brightside "Rec".
Played there in the 60's and 70's. I used to live on Stupton Road.
Park Keeper Mr Fidler, I went to school with his son Ian. Adjacent
to the lodge was "the old mens hut" a room where old men
would smoke and play crib and generally hang out. It used to be
an immaculately kept place but is now run down, the lodge has been
demolished.
Gwyneth Leighton I agree with everyone. This is the park building just below
St Margaret's church, Jenkin Rd. My husband lived on Tupton St and
we first met there whilst running a play-scheme.
Andrew Moffatt - definatley the parkeepers house at the entarnce
to the park.on jenkin road.remember it well.i lived on tipton st
adjacent.and use to play in there regular.
Peter Glover - almost certain it is park in jenkin road below
st margarets church. May be entrance to small park at lower jenkin
road brightside just above railway station.
Peter Fish - Reminds me of Intake Cemetary on Mansfield Road.
Am I correct?
Philip Robinson - It is not intake cemetary (The road slopes
down left to right).
geoff - Brightside rec. Jenkin rd. Park house has been knocked
down now and replaced with wooden play equopment.
Bob - looks like an old church on jenkin road.
lesley york - this is the park on jenkin rd, i played their
as a child a Mr Fidler was the park keeper.
g rastrick - it is the park. the caretakers house on jenkin
rd brightside i have lived in brihtside all my life i am now 58.
Lesley W - Can't be Intake Cemetery - the road slopes the
wrong way - as it is on the left as you go down the hill.
ELIZABETH ELLISON - I played in the rec on Jenkin Road having
been born in Brightside in 1960 this IS it!!
Susan Congreve - This is definately the park in Jenkin Road
below St.Margret's Church. The Park keeper's house was demolished
about 6 years ago as can be seen from the photo taken by myself
(below).
