Picture
ID - t00364
Known info - Two
horse drawn coal cart in unidentified location, probably near the
canal basin
Denis from Chapeltown - It looks like it could be taken from
Sussex Street ,with the camara mans back to the Gas holder looking
towards the canal(which would be behind the hoardings). The building
is still there
tony - Could it be the old Railway yard to the right of victoria
station and above the canal basin?
Ray Colley - This looks like the Langsett Road End of Cuthbert
Bank Road.Behind the Hoardings was a steep tip at the bottom was
Rawson Street
Jack Barker - I believe it is Furnival road just below the
LNER Approach looking toward the canal basin (Behind the building
and hoardings)
Annie - I agree it looks like the Sussex St / Cadman St area.
Some of the buildings there were compulsorily purchased by the council
about 15 years ago.
a woollen - looks like corner of carlisle street and upwell
street.
Harry - Having second thoughts on this location. I believe
Jack Barker has the right area but I think the location is on the
approach to the Park railway sidings opposite merchants offices.
The weighbridge would be off pictue to the right. Furnival Road
would be behind the hoardings.
Derek Hickinson - I agree with Tony. It is the old Railway
yard above the Canal Basin where the coal merchats were. The railway
arches on the right hand side of Furnival Rd when goimgout of town
were underneath. The buildings shown were on the right hand side
at the entrance to the yard and entrance to them gianed from the
entrance to the canal basin.Entry to the yard from Corn Exchange.
