Pochettino on Palmer return to Man City and 'being brave'
- Published
Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking before Chelsea travel to Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
Here are the main lines:
He gave an injury updatem, confirming Thiago Silva and Carney Chukwuemeka are out but Levi Colwill, Malo Gusto and Robert Sanchez are all available.
On Cole Palmer, who left Manchester City for Stamford Bridge last summer: "He is not the type of player that needs to prove anything. He is very grateful for Man City and he left the club as he wanted to find another challenge. He is playing a lot of games here and he is going to be there [on Saturday] - he will try to play for his team. Man City are doing really well and are one of the best teams in the world. It is not easy to find a space for a young guy."
More on Palmer: "He鈥檚 very smart - in between smart, clever and naughty. He's so emotionally intelligent. He doesn't care. He is going to go there and play. He can play good or not so good - but it鈥檚 not because of the pressure."
Pochettino reiterated his point about City being one of the best in the world: "The lesson is that we are going to play and face a very good team, one of the best in the world. You need to be brave enough to try and make them face their own goal and defend. If we go there and wait to see what is going on, they are a team that can dominate and make you suffer."
He is not looking further to the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool that takes place next Sunday and does not think the result at City will have any bearing on that game: "Look, in a normal team, yes, I鈥檇 agree with you. We are a team that has ups and downs and we still need to find our maturity and consistency. We need think first about trying to win and then see what happens in the next one. I don't think the consequence of winning or losing the game will affect the game after against Liverpool. You can see after Wolverhampton we made one of the best performance of the season."
