Guernsey runner Cameron Chalmers believes he has an "outside chance" of making Great Britain's 4x400 relay team at the World Indoor Championships.

He is ranked sixth in the event and will aim to boost his selection chances at the UK Championships this weekend.

"If there wasn't that possibility I probably wouldn't be running this weekend," Chalmers told 大象传媒 Guernsey.

"But with that there and still running faster and faster each race, I'll just try my best and see what happens."

The World Indoor Championships will take place in Portland, Oregon next month.

Chalmers, 19, posted a personal best of 47.40 seconds on Sunday as he won the 400m at the British Universities and Colleges Indoor Championships, adding to his recent national under-20 indoor triumph.

"A few people have mentioned it (the World Indoor Championships) and looking at the rankings and who's entered I think there is that outside chance," added Chalmers.

The Channel Islander, who attends Bath University, is also targeting the World Under-20 Championships in Poland this summer.

"That is the main aim - the standard is really fast, it's 46.5 seconds, but I'm running well indoors and as long as I stay injury free and train well I think it is possible," he said.
