Guernsey's Alastair Chalmers has failed in his latest bid to make the Olympic standard for the 400m hurdles.

The 24-year-old ran a time of 51.22 as he finished eighth at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland.

The result came just over a week after Chalmers ran a personal best of 48.76 seconds in the semi finals of the European Championships.

Chalmers, who is the reigning British champion, needs to run 48.70 to be in contention for a place at Paris 2024.
