Badminton schedule and venue at Paris 2024

The badminton events take place from 27 July to 5 August at the Porte de la Chapelle Arena - a sports and cultural venue in the 18th arrondissement in the north-east of Paris.

Opened in February and home to pro team Paris Basketball, it was built to help regenerate an area with a crime-ridden reputation. All 8,000 seats are made from recycled plastic.

There are five medal events - men's and women's singles, mixed doubles and men's and women's doubles.

The medal matches for the mixed doubles take place on 2 August.

The medal matches for the women鈥檚 doubles take place on 3 August, with the men鈥檚 doubles on 4 August.

The medal matches for the men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 singles take place on August 5.

Lightning-fast reflexes and reactions are required in a sport in which the shuttlecock can be hit over 40 times in the course of a 20-second rally.

There are five medal events at the Olympics: men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 singles and doubles, and mixed doubles.

They all begin with round-robin groups before progressing to knockout rounds. The first to 21 points wins a game; matches are best-of-three games.

Badminton made its debut as a demonstration sport at the 1972 Games in Munich and was an exhibition sport at the 1988 Seoul Games. It became part of the full programme at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona.
