Sam Billings: England bring in Ben Foakes to replace injured batsman
Batsman Sam Billings has been ruled out of England's upcoming games against Ireland and Pakistan after dislocating his left shoulder on Thursday.
He requires surgery and could be out for five months after being injured playing for Kent in the One-Day Cup.
The 27-year-old has been replaced by Surrey wicketkeeper Ben Foakes.
England play Ireland in a one-day international at Malahide on 3 May before a Twenty20 match against Pakistan on 5 May at Sophia Gardens.
Billings was not included in England's preliminary World Cup squad, but still had hopes of being selected.
Kent director of cricket Paul Downton said: "We really feel for Sam. To have picked up this kind of injury ahead of what was set to be an exciting summer is tough.
"However, I have no doubt that his dedicated professionalism and strong mindset will see him working hard behind the scenes to return back to fitness as soon as possible."
