Worcestershire have signed New Zealander Nathan Smith as an overseas player across all three formats for the 2024 season.

The 25-year-old all-rounder follows the pre-Christmas signing of Pakistan spinner Usama Mir for T20 Blast duty.

Fast bowler Smith has so far played his domestic cricket in New Zealand, first for his native Otago, then Wellington.

The former under-19 international was selected for New Zealand A duty against India in 2020.

"He's a genuine wicket-taker," said Worcestershire coach Alan Richardson.

"We have been monitoring him for some time. His pace and ability to swing the ball will provide us with a significant boost.

"He can also contribute valuable runs down the order, and is an outstanding fielder. And he is a great character."

Smith added: "I've heard a lot of good things about the club from other Kiwis who have played at New Road. I can't wait to join up with the rest of the squad and hit the ground running."
