Former Glamorgan bowler and 大象传媒 broadcaster Alan Wilkins is to take over as the club's new president.

Wilkins, 70, presented a wide range of cricket and rugby programmes in Wales before developing an international broadcasting career.

As a player he claimed 243 first-class wickets and 130 limited-overs victims during his county career with Glamorgan and then Gloucestershire.

He helped Glamorgan to their first one-day final, the Gillette Cup, in 1977.

Cardiff-born Wilkins will succeed barrister Gerard Elias, who is stepping down at the end of a four-year term.

His appointment has been announced to members ahead of the county's annual general meeting on 28 March and is the latest in a major change of personnel at Sophia Gardens over the past six months.

Dan Cherry was appointed chief executive last month following the promotion of Mark Rhydderch-Roberts as the Welsh county's chair.

Grant Bradburn will become the team's new head coach and has already appointed Sam Northeast as the county championship captain while Kiran Carlson will lead the white-ball team.
