Warwickshire's County Championship-winning captain Will Rhodes is to leave Edgbaston at the end of the season.

All-rounder Rhodes has been with the Midlands county for seven seasons and led them to a title triumph in 2021, but stood down as skipper last year.

The 29-year-old, who began his career at Yorkshire, has scored 6,648 runs and taken 117 wickets in all formats for the Bears since joining them in 2018.

"There are memories I will cherish for many, many years, but I feel the time is right to move on and pick up a fresh challenge," said Rhodes.

"I never thought I'd get an opportunity to captain a great club like Warwickshire. It's been an unbelievable honour and I'd like to think I've made a positive contribution.

"It goes without saying that I will be giving my all to the club for the rest of the season."

Rhodes was appointed as Jeetan Patel's successor in 2019 and two years later became one of only seven players to captain Warwickshire to County Championship title success.
