Somerset have signed England all-rounder Charlie Dean to their new women's team for 2025.

Dean, 23, came through the Hampshire setup and spent the last seven seasons with Southern Vipers, winning five trophies including the Charlotte Edwards Cup and Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.

The off-spinner won the first of her 69 England caps in 2021 when she was called up for the One-Day International series against New Zealand, where she was England's leading wicket-taker with 10.

Dean became the fastest woman to take 50 ODI wickets for England, doing so in 26 matches and in 2022 was named the PCA's Women's ODI Player of the Year.

"The club has a rich history of success in the men鈥檚 game, and this is something we are keen to replicate as the women鈥檚 team," Dean said.

"I would love to make some winning contributions at Somerset with both bat and ball, helping the team to bring home some silverware."

Dean's arrival comes two days after her England team-mate Dani Gibson signed for the club.

Somerset have so far recruited 16 players for the 2025 side, led by former Western Storm boss Trevor Griffin.

Taunton local Sophie Luff will also play for the team, while former England batter Fran Wilson will also return to the club after playing there between 2006 and 2014.
