Great Britain got off to a winning start in round two of the Track Nations Cup as Will Perrett secured men's elimination gold before the women's sprint team triumphed in Hong Kong.

Perrett, 27, held off Belgium's Jules Hesters to secure a narrow victory.

"You have to ride efficiently in the bunch, then make sure you have the legs at the end," he said.

Katy Marchant, Emma Finucane and Sophie Capewell continued their fine form to beat Germany in the sprint final.

Finucane, 21, finished off a fine team ride to win by 0.257 seconds, with GB finishing in 46.092 seconds and Germany in 46.349 seconds.

It means the GB team have won two out of two medals at the Track Nations Cup so far, having also secured gold in Adelaide in February.

Prior to that, a British women's team sprint squad had not won a gold medal since late 2012 but, with the Paris Olympics just less than five months away, the world silver medallists are finding superb form.

GB's men's sprint team and men's team pursuit did not qualify for the medal races.

Ireland's team of Lara Gillespie, Mia Griffin, Alice Sharpe and Kelly Murphy claimed silver in the women's individual pursuit, having lost in the final to New Zealand.

Individual events begin on Saturday with British interest in the men's keirin and omnium, and the women's individual sprint.
