Tom Daley has returned to the Great Britain diving squad for the first time in two years for the World Aquatics Championships in Qatar in February.

Daley, 29, stepped away from the sport after winning gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in the 10m platform event.

He returned to action at the British National Diving Cup last week, winning gold in the 10m synchro with Noah Williams, who is also included.

Adam Peaty has been named in the GB swimming squad for the Championships.

Peaty missed the 2022 World Championships with a foot injury and was also absent for the 2023 edition in Japan earlier this year after stepping away from the sport to prioritise his mental health.

The 28-year-old returned to action for Team GB in October at a World Cup event in Germany, finishing sixth in the 100m breaststroke and third in the 50m.

He raced in further World Cups in Greece and Hungary, twice finishing second in the 50m as well as sixth and fourth in the 100m - the event in which he is aiming for a third successive Olympic title in Paris next summer.

Matt Richards, who won two medals at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka, is also included in the 20-strong squad along with Olympic champions Tom Dean and Duncan Scott.

Matty Lee, who won 10m synchro gold with Daley at the Tokyo Games, is in the diving squad along with Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix, Grace Reid and Jack Laugher.

The main focus of the championships will be to secure any remaining Olympic quota spots for the 2024 Paris Games.

In diving there are three remaining spots - in the men's 10m Synchro, women's 3m Springboard and men's 3m Springboard, while the swimmers will look to secure relay team quota places.

The World Aquatics Championships will take place between 11 and 18 February 2024 in Doha, Qatar.
