Sheffield Wednesday have signed Nottingham Forest full-back Julian Bennett after his contract expired at the City Ground.

The 26-year-old has agreed a two-year deal, and joins as new arrivals at Hillsborough this summer.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge," .

"When a club like Wednesday shows interest, it doesn't take too much thinking about."

Bennett added: "I'm a hard-working player who gives 100% every game and I'm ready to get stuck into my football at Sheffield Wednesday."

Nottingham-born Bennett started out at Forest as an academy player but made his professional breakthrough at Walsall, where he made 56 appearances.

His form with the Saddlers earned him a return to his home-town club in January 2006, where he played 106 games, either side of a five-month loan spell at Crystal Palace last season.
