Anthony Elding turns down Plymouth Argyle switch

Rochdale striker Anthony Elding has decided not to join Plymouth Argyle, less than a day after agreeing a move.

He looked set to join after impressing during the pre-season friendly against Bristol City last week.

But, after "sleeping on matters", the 29-year-old has decided not to join the cash-strapped Devon side.

Acting Argyle chairman Peter Ridsdale "He has compelling personal reasons for the decision, which we fully understand."

The striker made 12 appearances for Rochdale last season, before going on loan to Stockport in January where he scored three goals in 18 games.

Born in Boston, Elding began his career with his home-town club before playing for Stevenage, Kettering, Leeds, Crewe, Hungarian side Ferencvaros and Lincoln.

Earlier this month, striker Liam Dickinson within a week of joining.
