Northampton Town boss Aidy Boothroyd says only a huge offer would persuade the club to sell Michael Jacobs.

The 20-year-old midfielder has scored five goals this season, adding to his tally of eight last season.

Boothroyd : "Unless it's an enormous offer, he'll stay where he is.

"If he's going to go, he'll go in the summer. I'd rather he stayed, and he doesn't want to leave, we don't want to sell and no-one's coming in for him."

Boothroyd added: "I spoke to Michael about it, had a chat with the chairman, and we feel the best place for him - and for our club - is with us right now."

Jacobs's current contract expires in the summer but, due to his age, any move away would still result in a fee, set by a tribunal.

Meanwhile, Boothroyd says he is hoping to make more signings ahead of the League Two match at Morecambe.

Sunderland left-back , Wycombe Wanderers midfielder and Birmingham City striker have already arrived at Sixfields on loan.

"It could be one loan and one permanent [signing]. But it's not so long ago that we were talking to Christian Dailly, then he gets injured, and we don't take him.

"So I'm always careful to make sure everything's signed and sealed before making any announcements. Obviously, there will be outgoings as well."
