First Division Livingston have unveiled former Falkirk and Hibernian boss John Hughes as their new manager.

He is joined by another former Easter Road manager, John Collins, who becomes the club's new director of football.

"The opportunity came along to work with John Collins, and it excited me," Hughes told 大象传媒 Scotland.

"The fans will appreciate that we're trying to do something different and the players will recognise they've got two guys who want football played."

The manager's job at Livingston became vacant when the club sacked Gary Bollan on 5 February.

Hughes and Collins played together during their time at Celtic and have continued their friendship outside of football.

And the new Livingston boss insists they will work hard together to bring success back to the West Lothian club.

"When you get excited about something, it's good to pursue it," explained Hughes.

"I spent most of my 14 months out of football with John playing golf and football is never far away from the conversation - on the dinner table after a round of golf, with teacups and salt pots getting moved about.

"The two of us have a philosophy on how football should be played.

"I think we have a blank canvass to get the best out of the young kids, promote them and get them into the first team and play a style of football that will hopefully bring us success."

Hughes' first match in charge will be at home against Raith Rovers on Saturday.
