Watford have signed Manchester United keeper Tomasz Kuszczak on loan until the end of the season.

The Poland international, 29, has not featured for United this season, with David de Gea and Anders Lindergaard ahead of him in the pecking order.

His last appearance came in the 1-1 draw at Blackburn last May which secured a 12th Premier League title for the Old Trafford side.

He has played 61 times for United since arriving from West Brom in 2006.

The Baggies brought Kuszczak to England from German outfit Hertha Berlin seven and a half years ago and he amassed 35 games while at the Hawthorns.

He spent the early part of his United career as deputy to Edwin van der Sar and, despite the Dutchman's retirement at the end of last season, he has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular in Sir Alex Ferguson's side.

He is expected to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires in the summer.

The Pole will battle former England Under-21 shot-stopper Scott Loach, who has had to contend with criticism from Hornets supporters in the past, for the goalkeeping berth at Vicarage Road.
