Cheltenham 4-1 Accrington

  • Published

Cheltenham comfortably saw off Accrington Stanley to maintain their League Two play-off push.

Keith Lowe opened the scoring with his first goal of the season, heading in from close range before Ben Burgess nodded in after the break.

Marlon Pack then fired in direct from a free-kick before Bobby Grant poked home Accrington's only goal from almost on the goal-line.

Kaid Mohamed rounded off the Robins' win with a shot from inside the box.

Yates hails Cheltenham's character

"It wasn't free-flowing but there was some good football played. We only take care of ourselves and we're one point off Cheltenham's second highest total in the league.

"Accrington are a good side and they'll be a side to watch next year for sure but I thought we edged it. It's three good points closer to where we're wanting to be.

"Today's about character and about getting a result, I'm delighted with the three points. The boys know we've done well today, but we can also do better."

"Great to see Ben Burgess score, he flung himself at it and that's what you've got to do, get a dirty face. It was a cracking ball from Keith Lowe, he put a couple of really great balls in today."
