Swindon Town sign Gary Roberts, Andy Williams and James Collins

Swindon Town have signed winger Gary Roberts and forwards Andy Williams and James Collins on two-year deals.

Roberts, 28, was released by promoted Huddersfield at the end of last season, while Collins, 21, failed to agree a new contract at Shrewsbury Town.

Williams, 25, was offered a new deal at Yeovil Town but he turned it down in order to join the Robins.

"Yeovil tried very hard to keep me and it was a tough decision to make," Williams told 大象传媒 Wiltshire.

The former Bristol Rovers and Hereford forward caught the eye of several clubs after scoring 16 League One goals last season.

"I was aware of interest in January but it was out of my hands at the time.

"But it was a big consideration when I was out of contract, to know there was someone that keen on bringing me here.

"I'm an ambitious person and I wanted to see where I could get to and, for me, that's Swindon Town."

Roberts had been with Huddersfield for four years and made 192 appearances, scoring 39 goals.

He was released by the Terriers four days after their victorious League One play-off final against Sheffield United at Wembley.

Collins, who started his career with Aston Villa, was Shrewsbury's top scorer last season with 16 and helped them secure automatic promotion to League One, finishing second behind Swindon.

The Shrews were hopeful of keeping hold of the Republic of Ireland youth international, but the striker opted to move to the County Ground.
