New Crawley Town boss Richie Barker says staying up his priority

New Crawley Town manager Richie Barker says avoiding relegation from League One is his main priority this season.

Barker has joined the newly-promoted side from Bury and is focused on ensuring they are still in the third tier come the end of the season.

"I think what we need to do firstly is stay in this division and then we'll be looking to go and push on from there," Barker told 大象传媒 Sussex.

"We need to make sure we're not going to run before we walk."

Expectations at the Broadfield Stadium are high following two successive promotions, but Barker feels that his new club will be able to deal with the pressure that comes with this.

"As Bury we were promoted and were everyone's favourite to get relegated and ended up finishing 14th," he added.

"If it's done in the right way, there are certainly opportunities to be successful in this division.

"No doubt people will expect us to continue with the promotion bandwagon and keep going so that's certainly going to be difficult.

"There's pressure in every job but all we can do is do our best and work as hard as we can and see where we go from there."
