Barnsley's hopes of bringing in Doncaster midfielder James Coppinger on loan look to have ended after the player turned down the move.

Coppinger, 31, has made 299 league appearances for Doncaster since joining them in 2004.

Rovers boss Dean Saunders told 大象传媒 Radio Sheffield: "At the moment James is staying with us.

"Barnsley put a proposal to us but James told us that he wasn't interested, so nothing's happened."

Meanwhile, Tykes defender John Stones has signed a new three-year deal with the Championship club.

The 18-year-old made his first-team debut in the 4-3 win over Rochdale in the Capital One Cup.

He has also been called up to the England Under-19 squad for their friendly against Germany next month.
