Chris Doig: Grimsby Town appoint defender as assistant
Conference Premier side Grimsby Town have given veteran defender Chris Doig a new role as assistant player-manager.
The 33-year-old joined the Mariners last summer after leaving York City and made 24 appearances this season.
Boss Paul Hurst has been working without an assistant since taking sole charge in September following the sacking of joint-manager Rob Scott.
Grimsby ended the campaign fourth, but lost in the play-offs for the second year running, this time to Gateshead.
