Free agent Jack Collison wants a new club with regular football and aims to get back into the Wales squad.

Collison was released from West Ham United on 30 June after the club finished 13th in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old midfielder has not played for Wales since the 3-1 victory over Iceland in March.

"The main objective is to find a club and get playing regularly. Hopefully my performances will get me back into the Wales squad," said Collison.

"There's some fantastic players looking for the midfield spot - Manchester City's Emyr Huws has come through this season and he's been fantastic."

Collison accepts that lack of game time at West Ham left him without a track record with which to impress other clubs but said his absence from games was not because of injuries.

It's like starting again now, so obviously I'd like to go somewhere where I'm going to be playing in a move that's good for my career - Collison

"Obviously it's going to be a stumbling block, but you look at my record over the past few seasons - I've been available for the last 60-odd games," he added.

"It's just I haven't been selected."

"I've used it as time to get a lot of strength into my legs and get myself ready and I feel fully fit and feel like I can do a job."

Collison, who has won 17 caps since making his debut against Iceland in May 2008, spent time on loan at Bournemouth and Wigan during the 2013-14 season.

The Watford-born player hopes for a more settled future and says he has been training hard during the pre-season.

"I've been doing a lot of individual work over the summer," he said.

"It's like starting again now, so obviously I'd like to go somewhere where I'm going to be playing in a move that's good for my career."
