Bangor City have formally appealed the decision refusing them a licence to play in the Welsh Premier League next season.

The three times league champions were refused the Football Association of Wales' (FAW) domestic licence because they owe £27,000 to HM Revenue & Customs.

The FAW want assurances from City on how the outstanding sum will be paid.

Bangor's appeal will be heard on 24 April.

Club secretary Gwynfor Jones is hopeful they will be able to come to an agreement on how to repay the money.

"The HMRC have been very supportive," Jones told ����ý Wales Sport.

"They said they'll do what they can to see us through this situation. We're hoping to come to a formal agreement with them by the end of the week."

Prestatyn Town are also appealing after being refused a domestic licence.

The Seasiders are bottom of the table and have already been relegated with their place taken by Cymru Alliance winners Llandudno, who have been awarded a licence for next season.
