Wrexham's Hollywood owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds will have to wait to see their side in action after the club's US tour was called off.

Wrexham had been due to play a pre-season game against Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park on Thursday, 29 July.

But they will not to travel due to uncertainties caused by Covid-19.

Philadelphia is the home city of McElhenney, the star and creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Deadpool star Reynolds was also expected to attend as Wrexham had planned a five-day training camp in the United States.

Wrexham said the decision not to travel was made with "significant regret" having worked closely with the Welsh Government and US Embassy to ensure immigration requirements were met.

They added with the "increased risks and continued uncertainty created by Covid" they did not with to expose their players and staff to "unnecessary risks" that could impact on preparations for the new season.

The club hopes to reschedule the fixture in the next 12 months.

Wrexham appointed Phil Parkinson as their new manager following the departure of Dean Keates at the end of last season.
