Kauno Zalgiris 0-5 The New Saints
The New Saints secured their biggest ever win in Europe to take full control of their Europa Conference League tie against Kauno Zalgiris.
Leo Smith scored his fifth goal in five European games to give Saints the perfect start after eight minutes.
Danny Davies struck twice in four minutes to extend their lead before Declan McManus added a fourth.
Jordan Williams sealed a memorable win with a fifth goal three minutes from time.
Saints boss Anthony Limbrick had spoken of his hopes of a positive result in Lithuania before the second leg at Park Hall next week.
But a 5-0 win away from home would have been beyond his wildest dreams and it puts Saints within touching distance of a third qualifying round game against Viktoria Plzen or Dinamo Brest.
"I'm really pleased for the players, I thought they were fantastic," Limbrick said.
"Everyone, from the forwards to the defenders, mucked in together as a team and made sure we were solid and that gave us a great platform to get something from the game."
