Jake Reeves scores the winning penalty for Stevenage against Luton

League Two Stevenage pulled off a scalp against Championship neighbours Luton Town, knocking them out of the Carabao Cup in the first round after a penalty shootout.

The 90 minutes ended in a 2-2 draw with the Hatters having to come from behind twice, before being beaten 3-0 on penalties at the Lamex Stadium.

Jake Reeves was the home hero, scoring the winning penalty after the Luton trio of Harry Cornick, Carlos Mendes Gomes and Dion Pereira all missed from the spot.

Elliott List had given Stevenage the lead inside two minutes, but Luton responded quickly as new signing Cameron Jerome slotted the ball in from Henri Lansbury's free-kick.

Stevenage re-took the lead through Ben Coker's free-kick from the edge of the box, but once again the visitors responded immediately.

Another new summer arrival Admiral Muskwe, who signed for an undisclosed fee from Leicester last month, scored from close range.

Cornick had a chance to win the match for Luton with 11 minutes to go but dragged his shot wide.

Stevenage's Chris Lines, Luther James-Wildin and Reeves all scored in succession from the spot as the hosts booked a place in the second round.
