Wigan progressed to the second round of the Carabao Cup after beating Hull City on penalties.

The first 15 penalties were all successful until Manchester United loanee Di'Shon Bernard sent his effort over the crossbar for the Tigers and Jordan Cousins stepped up to win it.

The away team took the lead after the break when Stephen Humphrys smashed home from close range after his initial header was spilt by Nathan Baxter.

Keane Lewis-Potter quickly levelled for the hosts with a neat curled finish from the edge of the area.

The Latics gave a debut to James Carragher, the son of former England and Liverpool defender Jamie, as a second-half sub.
