Burton Albion 1-1 Oxford United (2-4 pens)
John Mousinho atoned for scoring an injury-time own goal by netting the winning penalty as Oxford United edged past Burton in the Carabao Cup.
The U's defender turned the ball into his own net in the sixth minute of added time to cancel out Nathan Holland's 85th-minute strike.
But Oxford progressed after scoring four out of four in the shootout, with Burton duo Lucas Akins and Tom O'Connor off target.
It was harsh on Albion, who created better chances but struggled to test Simon Eastwood.
The home side thought they had opened the scoring early on when John Brayford's flick sailed over Eastwood and bounced down off the crossbar, only for the assistant referee to rule that the ball had stayed out.
Brayford was unlucky again with a volley that struck team-mate Omari Patrick and spun behind, while Joe Powell and Jonny Smith also went close.
Burton continued to have more of the game in the second half - yet it was substitute Holland who broke the deadlock for the visitors, converting a cross from Mark Sykes.
Oxford were denied when Mousinho was credited with an own goal in a dramatic late scramble, but he then netted the decisive kick after Eastwood saved Akins' penalty and O'Connor hit the bar.
