Rob Dickie scored against his former club as QPR beat Oxford United to reach the Carabao Cup third round.
Dickie did not celebrate after opening the scoring for the Championship side with a fantastic strike on 26 minutes.
The centre-back fired into the top corner from 20 yards for his fourth goal of the season.
QPR doubled their lead when Ilias Chair's strike took a big deflection off U's midfielder Leon Chambers-Parillon five minutes before half-time.
Defeat for Oxford sees Karl Robinson's side exit the competition in the second round in successive seasons.
QPR had previously beaten Leyton Orient on penalties in the first round but enjoyed more serene progress against their League One visitors.
QPR boss Mark Warburton:
"I thought we showed a really good intensity. The only real criticism is that we should have been out of sight. We got the goals but should have put the game to bed.
"Oxford had a good spell in the second half but we weathered the storm well and overall it's a good performance from us tonight."
Oxford boss Karl Robinson:
"I think the world of Rob Dickie and he knows that. He's a great talent.
"He's an incredible young man. I thought coming to QPR was the right move for him."
