Cymru Premier round-up
JD Cymru Premier
Saturday, 9 October
Aberystwyth Town 0-1 Caernarfon Town: Fourth-placed Caernarfon continued their impressive start to the season as captain Darren Thomas' 16th-minute drive proved enough to extend their unbeaten league run to five games. Aberystwyth drop to 11th having lost six of their eight league games so far this season.
Bala Town 1-1 Cefn Druids: Former Wales international Dave Edwards scored his sixth goal of the season for second-placed Bala Town, but they were left frustrated as Cefn Druids fought back to claim their first point of the season. The bottom club had lost all seven of their Cymru Premier games this season before this, conceding 25 goals and scoring just three in the process, but claimed a point against unbeaten Bala thanks to Niall Flint's equaliser.
Cardiff Met 0-2 Haverfordwest County: Improving Haverfordwest climbed to ninth in the table after making it seven points from their last three league games. Ben Fawcett put County ahead with a shot from outside the box 19 minutes from time, before Kieran Lewis' cool finish sealed victory late on.
Connah's Quay Nomads 0-1 The New Saints FC: Craig Harrison suffered defeat to his old club in his first home game as Connah's Quay boss. The league leaders claimed victory courtesy of a contentious second-half penalty which was converted by Declan McManus after Jamie Mullan was penalised for a challenge on Jordan Williams. Saints defender Keston Davies and Nomads' George Horan saw red after a tangle late on, while Declan Poole thought he had levelled in stoppage time only for the offside flag to deny the champions.
Flint Town United 3-2 Barry Town United: Free-scoring Flint Town United won a thrilling game against Barry Town United courtesy of Ben Maher's fabulous late drive. Jordan Cotterill put the visitors ahead early on with a cute finish before Mark Cadwallader's close-range leveller. Jack Kenny then put Flint ahead, only for Kayne McLaggon to make it 2-2 from a tight angle. The draw looked likely until Maher smashed home from 20 yards with three minutes to go.
Newtown 3-1 Penybont: Nick Rushton scored a goal in each half as Newtown overcame draw specialists Penybont. Aaron Williams put the hosts in front from the penalty spot before Rushton made it 2-0 at the break. Keane Watts pulled a goal back but Rushton's second ensured there was no way back for Rhys Griffiths' side.
