FA Cup highlights: Stoke City 2-0 Leyton Orient

Tom Ince scored the first and set up the second to secure Stoke City's first FA Cup win in six years as they beat League Two Leyton Orient.

The midfielder broke Orient's resistance by rifling in Alfie Doughty's cross just before half-time.

Ince then played in substitute Tyrese Campbell for a late strike to seal the Championship side's success.

Despite spells of pressure, the O's failed to make the most of their chances in both halves.

Orient - playing their first game in three weeks because of Covid-19 postponements - showed few signs of rustiness as they created early opportunities.

Striker Aaron Drinan nodded a header wide, while strike partner Harry Smith also went close, forcing a tip-over save from Potters debutant Jack Bonham.

But Stoke gradually gained control and Lawrence Vigouroux denied Ince and Sam Clucas, while Doughty found the net only to be halted by an offside flag.

The hosts made the breakthrough two minutes before half-time as Doughty brought down James Chester's pass and cut the ball back for Ince, who lashed it first time into the roof of the net.

Chester could have provided Stoke with some breathing space in the second period, but the defender nodded a Clucas corner wide.

The League Two side pressed hard for an equaliser and substitute Ruel Sotiriou almost forced extra time with a lob that beat Bonham, but sailed over.

Instead, Campbell wrapped up Stoke's victory in the 90th minute, latching on to Ince's pass and firing into the bottom corner.
