Second-half goals from Odsonne Edouard and Luka Milivojevic helped Crystal Palace overcome Oxford United to reach the Carabao Cup third round.

The League One side had performed well without threatening their Premier League visitors, who finally broke the deadlock in the 71st minute.

Second-half substitute Jeffrey Schlupp fed Frenchman Edouard to fire past Oxford keeper Edward McGinty.

Milivojevic made it 2-0 from the spot on the stroke of full-time.

It ends a run of four EFL Cup exits without scoring for Palace, who had lost their last four games in this competition - including twice on penalties.

The U's had taken advantage of some sloppy play from the visitors in the first half to create chances but could not make any count.

The story had been a similar one for Palace for much of the game, with Edouard heading wide from six yards out in the first half.

But after Edouard netted their first EFL Cup goal since 2018, Milivojevic made sure of Palace's place in round three after Jordan Ayew drew a foul in the box.
