Swansea City saw a late move for West Bromwich Albion striker Karlan Grant collapse in the final minutes of the January transfer window.

Swansea thought they had secured a deal for Grant to join them on loan for the rest of the season.

But the 25-year-old's move to Wales fell through shortly before the Tuesday night deadline.

Grant has scored 22 goals in 86 appearances for West Brom, netting five in all competitions this season.

The former Charlton player Grant joined the Baggies from Huddersfield Town in a 拢15m move in October 2020.

Albion had seemingly been prepared to let him leave on a temporary basis and the player was keen on the move, and it is understood paperwork was completed on Swansea's side of the deal.

The collapse of the Grant transfer means Swansea failed to sign a player in January.

Russell Martin had been confident the club would bolster his squad for a potential Championship play-off push.

Swansea allowed Michael Obafemi to join Burnley last weekend, while Jordon Garrick joined Forest Green earlier in January and Brandon Cooper and Nathanael Ogbeta departed on loan.

Fin Stevens and Armstrong Oko-Flex saw loan spells in Wales terminated early.

Swansea did recall Morgan Whittaker from his loan spell at Plymouth - and rejected a succession of bids from Rangers for the young forward.
