Milton Keynes Dons 1-0 Cambridge United

  • Published

Mo Eisa's first half free-kick gave MK Dons three crucial points from a 1-0 win against fellow relegation candidates Cambridge.

The opening stages were a very cagey affair with neither side really coming up with any clear-cut chances.

The closest either team came was when Jack Lankester latched onto a mix-up between Dean Lewington and Jack Tucker, but his effort was straight at Jamie Cumming.

Cambridge thought they had the opener after half an hour, with Lankester latching onto a pass from Shilow Tracey after his powerful run through the middle of the park, but his curling effort was ruled out after a late offside flag.

The deadlock was broken moments later though as Eisa curled a free-kick into the top left corner from just outside the area to give the home side the lead.

MK Dons took that momentum into the second half and had the lion's share of the chances, although very few of them troubled Dimitar Mitov whilst the closest the visitors came was a Michael Morrison header from a corner that was straight at Cumming.
