Substitute Alex Gilliead's late leveller salvaged a point for Bradford City at home to Grimsby Town in League Two.

The away side enjoyed much the better of the opening period and deservedly went ahead when Danny Rose headed home Toby Mullarkey's delivery from the right-hand side.

Bantams boss Mark Hughes switched to a 4-4-2 at the break but, while his side improved, they continued to struggle to create clear-cut chances and looked set to fall to a first home defeat of the season.

However, with two minutes to go Gilliead controlled Bobby Pointon's pass and drilled a low shot across Jake Eastwood and into the Mariners goal from 18 yards out.

Victory would have lifted the away side, who remain without a win at Valley Parade since 1997, up to second in the table but the draw was only enough to move them to eighth.

Bradford are 14th and have scored just five goals in their seven league games so far this campaign.
