Leyton Orient fan Derek Reynolds dies after medical emergency during game
A Leyton Orient fan who was attended to for a medical emergency during the club's League One match with Lincoln City on Tuesday has died.
Derek Reynolds, 74, received treatment in the East Stand of the Brisbane Road stadium during the second half of the match.
Medics arrived within four minutes of being called at 21:28 BST.
About 20 fans ran on to the pitch to alert referee Stephen Martin to the incident and urge him to halt the game.
The match was eventually paused for an hour before being abandoned, with 82 minutes having been played.
The London Ambulance Service said they sent a "number of resources" to the scene.
"We treated a man at the scene, but very sadly, despite our teams' best efforts, he was later pronounced dead," a spokesperson told 大象传媒 Sport.
Orient 'devastated' to confirm news
"Derek was a lifelong O's supporter and he lived in Osbourne Road, a short walk from the ground, for many years,"
"As well as being a lifelong fan, Derek was heavily involved in the club and managed the club's tannoy system during the 1990s."
The club said they would be paying tribute to Reynolds at their home game against Reading on Saturday, where his family have been invited as guests and a book of condolence will be open.
"We would, once again, like to thank Derek's fellow supporters for the way in which they conducted themselves on Tuesday night and acted to try and help the situation," the statement added.
Meanwhile, Lincoln said "the thoughts of everyone" at the club were with Reynolds' family.
