Rubin Colwill has scored three goals this season, but his late strike against Bristol City was his first in the league since Steve Morison's Cardiff reign

Erol Bulut has challenged Rubin Colwill to keep on delivering for Cardiff City after the Wales international's fine solo goal sealed victory over Bristol City in the Welsh capital.

Colwill's memorable effort was his first league strike since March 2022.

Cardiff manager Bulut says attacking midfielder Colwill, 21, has responded in the right way after he criticised his work-rate earlier this month.

"Rubin is doing well for a long time," Bulut said.

"When we put him on, we get this performance that we want to see.

"He played well. Also in the games before he did well. I can give him my advice, to not stop, to continue."

Colwill is yet to start a Championship game since Bulut took charge at Cardiff last summer.

He came on in the 57th minute against Bristol City - the earliest he has arrived from the bench this season - and made his mark in added time by dancing between two defenders down the left flank before driving into the box and rifling the ball high into the net.

Earlier this month, Bulut said Colwill and team-mate Callum Robinson needed to work harder defensively to regain their starting places.

Colwill's goal against Bristol City came after Robinson scored his first of the season in the midweek win at Huddersfield.

"I was clear what I wanted from those two players," Bulut said.

"Offensively they are good. Today we saw again from Colwill a great goal, last game Robinson scored and also today he worked a lot.

"Defensively they are doing much better than before. I am expecting this because we are 11 on the field and I need 11 players, not 10.

"They understand what I want. I am honest with my players. I don't tell them anything else. I tell them exactly what I want.

"The good thing is that they try to give me back what I want from them. This makes me happy."
