Harrogate brought in Jonathan Mitchell after losing Mark Oxley to injury

Harrogate Town have signed goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell until the end of the year.

The move comes after first-choice Mark Oxley was ruled out for up to three months with a ruptured calf tendon.

Mitchell was released by Doncaster Rovers in the summer after playing 60 matches in an 18-month spell.

The Newcastle youth product has also played for home-town club Hartlepool and had loan spells with six other clubs, including Luton Town.

Oxley was injured in last weekend's home defeat by Crewe, and Mitchell is eligible for Saturday's FA Cup first-round tie against Marine.

Manager Simon Weaver : "To recruit someone of Jonathan's quality at such short notice is a great stroke of luck for the football club. He is a very good professional, he has a lot of games under his belt but is also still only 28.

"We need competition for places in every position. With Mark out, we needed to bring someone in as soon as possible and we are delighted to have this deal complete."
