Callum Wilson: Newcastle United face anxious wait over forward's fitness
- Published
Newcastle face an anxious wait over the fitness of Callum Wilson, who went off at half-time in their Champions League loss at Borussia Dortmund.
The striker, 31, has scored seven goals in 10 Premier League appearances for Newcastle this term.
However, boss Eddie Howe withdrew him at the break in Germany due to "tightness in his hamstring."
Newcastle's other main striker Alexander Isak is also sidelined with a groin problem.
"We are really stretched at the moment," said Howe who went on to say that it was "too early to know" the full extent of Wilson's problem.
Alongside Isak, the Magpies are currently without the likes of the injured Harvey Barnes, Sven Botman, Jacob Murphy, Elliot Anderson, Matt Targett and Dan Burn.
Big-money summer signing Sandro Tonali is also serving a 10-month ban for breaching betting rules.
They travel to Bournemouth in the English top flight on Saturday, 17:30 GMT.
