Carlisle United midfielder Callum Guy will be out for around nine months after picking up an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Guy, 26, was injured in Carlisle's defeat by Leyton Orient in the FA Cup first round on Saturday.

"Unfortunately with this type of injury, we are looking at nine to 10 months on the sidelines," said boss Paul Simpson.

Guy has played in all 16 of Carlisle's League One games this season.

Simpson said that after a meeting with the surgeon, it was decided to wait a few weeks before undergoing an operation.

After that he faces a long course of rehabilitation.

"It's a massive blow for him, a blow for the whole group and a blow for the football club," Simpson told 大象传媒 Radio Cumbria.

"All we can do now is look after him. It's just one of those horrible injuries that unfortunately happen in football."

Carlisle are 21st in League One and host Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
