Andy Woodman: Bromley boss says Chesterfield 'have won National League'
Bromley manager Andy Woodman says Chesterfield already have the National League title wrapped up.
The Spireites are eight points clear of second-placed Bromley, who have played two more games than the leaders.
South London club Bromley, who have won their past three matches, are now bracing themselves for a third play-off appearance under Woodman.
"Chesterfield have won the league - it's done," Woodman, 52, told 大象传媒 Radio London.
"That's the narrative we like to keep using. The narrative from Chesterfield is that they have won the league, the narrative from everyone else in the country is that Chesterfield have won the league.
"Chesterfield are a powerhouse in this league this year, they have a good squad, a good manager and a good fanbase. It will have to take a real landslide of mishaps for them to fall away.
"So, we will go with that and just keep concentrating on ourselves, and you never know. What I will say is that no title is ever won without a challenge - and that's what I'm hanging on to a little bit."
Bromley lost their play-off semi-final 3-2 to Chesterfield last season, while in 2020-21 they fell short of the semi-finals after a 3-2 defeat by Hartlepool in Woodman's first season in charge.
Woodman led Bromley to FA Trophy success in 2022, beating Wrexham 1-0 in the final, and has helped the side bounce back from claiming only two points in their first four games of this season.
"We've had a good run to say the least, but we are not going to sit back on that and feel we have done enough," Woodman added.
"We haven't won anything yet, we haven't got anywhere yet and I've had two play-offs with Bromley now and I'm still in the same league.
"I know exactly how it feels to not achieve anything. Getting in the play-offs is not achieving anything. Getting out of this league is achieving something.
"We have a good honest group of core players. We don't sign bad eggs - we don't have them in our dressing room and that can lead you a long way."
