Dayot Upamecano: Bayern Munich condemn racist abuse directed at defender after Lazio defeat
Bayern Munich have condemned the racist abuse directed at defender Dayot Upamecano after their 1-0 defeat by Lazio in the Champions League last 16.
Upamecano, 25, was sent off in the 67th minute after giving away a penalty, which Ciro Immobile scored for the win.
"FC Bayern strongly condemn the racist comments being directed towards Dayot Upamecano on social media," .
"Anyone who comments hateful words such as these is no fan of our club."
The red card means Upamecano will miss the second leg in Munich on 5 March.
Bayern failed to have a shot on target in the first-leg tie, with the defeat increasing the pressure on manager Thomas Tuchel.
They lost 3-0 to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Saturday to fall five points behind Xabi Alonso's side in second and have already been eliminated from the German Cup.
