Paul Simpson wants Carlisle to bring in "physical, technical" players this summer

Carlisle United must get player recruitment right if they are to build a squad to eventually compete in League One, says boss Paul Simpson.

The Cumbrians are 16 points from safety at the bottom of League One and on the brink of relegation.

A squad overhaul has already begun since the Piatak takeover, but Tuesday's defeat by Barnsley was their 24th this season in 37 league games.

"We haven't found any game easy at this level," Simpson told 大象传媒 Radio Cumbria.

"That's something we have to make sure we're better on, in terms of our recruitment.

"We've got a really important window coming up in the summer, where we've got to make sure we recruit physical, better technical footballers than what we are at the moment.

"That's the brutal truth of it that we've got to look at addressing."
