Cameron Brannagan: Oxford United midfielder intent on 'putting things right'

Oxford United sit one point outside the play-off places in League One
After a 5-0 defeat by Bolton Wanderers, Oxford United midfielder Cameron Brannagan has said that he is "intent on putting things right".
The U's travel to 23rd placed Port Vale - who haven't won any of their last five games - on Saturday.
Midfielder Brannagan, who joined the side in 2018, said the defeat by Bolton left him feeling hurt.
"It was an embarrassment. I felt ashamed when I got home," the 27-year-old told 大象传媒 Radio Oxford.
"I have never felt like this before in my career. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to put it right on Saturday."
United have struggled to pick up points in recent weeks, winning just four times in League One since the turn of 2024 and once in their last five league matches.
Des Buckingham's side remain one point and two places outside the promotion zone.
Brannagan says his side have to capitalise when they play Port Vale.
Despite the recent struggles, he says they must maintain focus as they are still well placed to end the season in the top six.
"We have got to be positive because we're only a point off the play-offs," he said.
"If there isn't fire inside your stomach to put it right, then you're in the wrong industry.
"It's definitely in mine - I've never been this wound up in my career so I'm looking forward to Saturday."
As well as Port Vale, relegation-battling Fleetwood are scheduled to play Oxford United in their final eight games.
The U's also face tough games against promotion-chasing Peterborough and Stevenage before the end of the campaign.
