Dasilva savours debut despite Wales' drab draw
Jay Dasilva was disappointed with Wales鈥 0-0 friendly draw with Gibraltar but 鈥渂uzzing鈥 having won his first senior international cap.
Dasilva qualifies for Wales through his Pontypridd-born grandmother.
The 26-year-old Coventry left-back was first called-up by Wales last November having been capped at every level by England from under-16 to under-21.
鈥淚t鈥檚 such an honour to finally make my debut and wear the shirt for the first time. I鈥檒l remember it forever,鈥 Dasilva said.
鈥淭his is my third camp, so I鈥檝e had to be patient to get some minutes.
鈥淚 got the opportunity and hopefully it鈥檚 the first of many. I鈥檒l keep working hard, try to impress and just win more caps.
鈥淭he result wasn鈥檛 what we expected and we鈥檙e disappointed, but personally I鈥檓 buzzing.鈥
Wales have faced criticism after being held to a drab goalless draw by Gibraltar - ranked 203rd in Fifa鈥檚 world rankings - at the Est谩dio Do Algarve in Portugal.
But Dasilva impressed and was named player of the match on a disappointing evening which ended with manager Rob Page booed by fans.
鈥淚鈥檓 just grateful to be in this position,鈥 DaSilva added.
鈥淚t鈥檚 such an honour to be able to play for your country.
鈥淚 made the decision quickly when I was asked. How could you say no?鈥
鈥淚 spoke to my mum and brothers straight after the game.
鈥淭hey were watching, they didn鈥檛 quite make it out, but they are so proud. It was a great moment to share with them.鈥
