O'Brien signs new two-year deal with Accrington

Connor O'Brien has signed a new two-year contract to keep him at Accrington Stanley until 2026.

O'Brien made his debut in February 2023 and has gone on to play 32 games for the first-team.

The teenager, 19, started every match after John Doolan replaced John Coleman as manager of the League Two club in March.

"I'm buzzing, it's been a long time coming," he said. "I'm just happy that we've got it over the line and now I can start preparing for next season.

"It means a lot to me and my family, because everyone supports Accrington."

Doolan told the : "Connor has committed himself to the club and me and Ged Brannan, and I am so happy with the board for backing us on this as well."

News about O'Brien comes a day after veteran Seamus Conneely also committed his future to the Wham Stadium.

The defender, 35, has agreed a new one-year contract running until the summer of 2025.

Conneely has made 348 appearances for Stanley, scoring 26 goals, since joining from Irish side Sligo Rovers in January 2015.

He said: "I was happy when John Doolan offered me a new deal. I am settled in the area and I am now looking forward to next season."
