West Ham targeting free-agent centre-back
- Published
West Ham are understood to be in the market to sign a central defender on a free transfer in the next few weeks.
The Hammers have been linked with moves for Joel Matip and John Egan after they left Liverpool and Sheffield United respectively this summer.
The club has just three centre-backs available after revamping the squad in the transfer market after Julen Lopetegui replaced David Moyes as manager.
New signings Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo are the first-choice pairing, with just Konstantinos Mavropanos backing them up.
Although the transfer window is closed, free agents can still be signed after the 30 August deadline.
