Man City defender Shimizu suffers ACL injury
Manchester City have announced Japan international Risa Shimizu has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
The club say she has had successful surgery after picking up the injury in Japan's Olympic group-stage defeat by Spain in July.
Shimizu joined City this summer on a three-year deal from West Ham after turning down an offer to stay with the London club.
She will now continue her rehabilitation at Manchester City, with the club preparing for their Women's Super League opener at Arsenal on 22 September.
